A BRAM program that covers
every family and every language
BRAM defines 17 prohibited content families. A compliant program has to detect violations across all of them, in every language the portfolio operates in, with evidence that survives a scheme audit. Kenal AURA is built exactly for that surface area.
Summary
Kenal AURA is the merchant monitoring platform for BRAM compliance. It classifies merchant content against all 17 BRAM families, operates in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese, runs across multiple regional locales to catch geo-cloaking, and produces evidence bundles in the format schemes audit against.
All 17 BRAM content families
BRAM defines 17 prohibited content families, each with severity tiers and their own investigative implications. Kenal AURA classifies content against all 17 on every scan. Alerts are automatically scored by family: prohibited families raise high-severity alerts, adjacent low-risk drift is dampened to cut noise.
Multilingual classification
Merchants across Malaysia and ASEAN run sites in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese. A BRAM program that only classifies English content misses a meaningful slice of its own portfolio. Kenal AURA classifies content in all three primary regional languages, the same coverage a Malaysian acquirer's merchants actually operate in.
Multi-locale scanning for geo-cloaking
Cloaked merchants serve clean content to regulators and prohibited content to buyers in target regions. Kenal AURA crawls from multiple regional locales with rotated exit nodes and compares what each sees. Divergence raises a dedicated alert. This is how geographic evasion becomes visible instead of invisible.
Audit-ready evidence bundles
Every BRAM violation is backed by timestamped screenshots, extracted content, classification rationale, and content hashes. Evidence is retained for the full card-scheme retention period with integrity hashes and immutable storage. When an audit asks for the backing data on a case, the bundle is already built.

Learn moreFrequently asked questions
- What are the 17 BRAM content families?
- BRAM groups prohibited merchant content into 17 families: unlicensed pharmaceuticals, illegal gambling, counterfeit goods, child endangerment material, adult services, drugs and paraphernalia, unauthorized financial services, and so on. Each family has its own severity tier and investigative requirements. Kenal AURA classifies against all 17 on every scan.
- How does the platform handle ambiguous content?
- Content the deterministic rule tier cannot resolve is escalated through a tiered classification pipeline. Unambiguous violations are resolved at the rule tier. Ambiguous pages are escalated to deeper analysis with full-page screenshots. Costs stay proportional to case difficulty.
- Can we customize the rule set for our portfolio?
- Yes. Kenal AURA supports per-organization rule overrides layered on top of the system BRAM ruleset. Teams can tighten sensitivity for high-risk segments, add custom rules for region-specific concerns, and adjust severity thresholds to match their own policy. Every override is audit-logged.
- What if our BRAM program also covers Visa?
- The monitoring, classification, and evidence retention capabilities are the same whether the acquirer is on Mastercard, Visa, or both. Report formats differ by scheme. Kenal AURA produces reports aligned to Mastercard's MMP reporting format and can export evidence bundles suitable for Visa compliance reviews.
